Chee Wei ready to snook ’em allLai Chee Wei, the third ranked national snooker player, will be up against Alex Liew today in the round of last 32 in the One Class Open Snooker Championships in Petaling Jaya. It will be his first test for the new year as he hopes to improve and show better results.

Last year ran dry for Lai Chee Wei as he only managed to win one tournament in Singapore.

He aims to kick off the 2009 season by winning this tournament. The last tournament Chee Wei played was in China, where he was knocked out in the last 16 in the singles and lost in the semi-final in the team event.

When asked how would he look at the match against Alex, he said: “I am all out to win this tournament as it will boost up my confidence to move on for the up-coming tournaments, but first I have to beat Alex to progress, I believe I am well prepared but I don’t want to be over confident.”

Favourite and national No 1 Moh Keen Hoo is not expected to be troubled by Michael Tan in the same stage.
