-John Higgins 2 time world champion won the Royal London Watches Grand Prix final on home soil at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow to equal the record 4 Grand Prix titles won by Stephen Hendry. John Higgins bt Ryan Day 9-7.
-The three 3 time Grand Prix champion John Higgins(Scotland) clinched a fine 6-4 semi-final victory over 19 year old Judd Trump (England) at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre. John Higgins will play against Ryan Day(Wales) in the final.
- John Higgins(Scotland) Beat Ding Jun Hui (China) 5-3 in the quarter finals . John Higgins will play 19 year old Judd trump in the semi final . Ryan Day (Wales) will play Alister Carter(England) in the other semi final.
-Alister Carter(England), last year World Snooker Championship 2008 Crucible finalist, beat 4 time Grand Prix winner Steve Davis 5-3 with breaks of 99 and 90.
-Ronnie O’Sullivan(England) crashed out of this year’s Royal London Watches Snooker Grand Prix 2008 after a shock defeat to teenage qualifier Judd Trump(England). Ronnie O’Sullivan went down to a surprise 5-4 loss at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre having let slip a 3-2 lead against Judd Trump (19 year old ). Judd Trump, world ranking number 41, might have easily crumbled playing in the first ranking quarter-final of his career, especially against the current world champion and world number one. But instead the youngster raised his game to clinch the “biggest win of my career” at this year’s £502,100 tournament.
- Jamie Cope (England) bt 2002 World Snooker Champion Peter Ebdon (England) 5-4.
- Ronnie O’ Sullivan (England) bt Defending Grand Prix Snooker champion Marco Fu (Hong Kong) 5-1.
- 51 year old Steve Davis also made it to the Quarter final by beating Adrian Gunnell 5-4 in the last 16 round.
19 year old Judd Trump ( England )
- 19 year old Judd Trump made the biggest upset at this season’s Royal London Watches Snooker Grand Prix in Glasgow Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre by beating last season’s World Snooker Championship 2008 semi finalist Joe Perry 5-2 . This is Judd Trump’s 1st ranking snooker tournament Quarter Final.
- John Higgins progressed to the Royal London Watches Grand Prix quarter-finals with victory in his all-Scottish meeting with Stephen Hendry in Glasgow. John Higgins won 5-2 with breaks of 127, 75 and 66.
- Ding Jun Hui also in the quarter-finals with a 5-2 victory over Michael Holt(England).Michael Holt had breaks of 105 and 60, but Ding Jun Hui , a 3 time ranking event winner, kept his title challenge on track with runs of 56, 69 and 129 breaks.
