National Sports Council director general Datuk Zolkples Embong is shocked at the expulsion of national players Moh Keen Hoo and Thor Chuan Leong.
Zolkples claimed he was not aware of the decision by Malaysian Snooker and Billiards Federation (MSBF) to terminate the services of both cue artists on disciplinary grounds.
“No one told me about this. I will check with MSBF before commenting,” said Zolkples.
“I know MSBF have given Keen Hoo lots of opportunities and I wonder why he is still defiant. I know their president Prof Datuk W. Y. Chin is a no-nonsense man who doesn’t tolerate indiscipline.”
MSBF had in their council meeting last week dropped Keen Hoo and Chuan Leong from the national stable for skipping training too often.
Keen Hoo and Chuan Leong were earning RM2,500 and RM1,500 respectively per month during their training stint with NSC.
“If the players feel they can make better money outside, then they are free to leave our training programme.
We do not tolerate players who are involved in any form of negative activities,” said Zolkples.
While Chuan Leong had publicly admitted his mistakes to Mailsport yesterday, Keen Hoo remained tight lipped and will only comment after the on-going Platinum Masters championship in KL.
“Even if they leave our programme they can still represent the country.
It’s not the end of the road but they need to prove themselves.”
