The 1st Malaysia 9 ball pool championship 2008 draw in out ! Total of 88 participants , very good respond ! Thank you and good luck to all participants who support this event and hope all of you enjoy this year’s championship at Golden Break Pool Club .
Also many thanks to Guinness and Anchor Berhad (main sponsor) , Malaysian Snooker and Billiards Federation (M.S.B.F) and Golden Break Pool Club (venue) for making effort to make this championship successful .
For this , Snooker Arena is sending 5 snooker players Yonic Hoh , Fong Chi Yung, Henrey See Thoe , Peter Foo and J.H.Leong to participate in this 9 ball pool championship to support one of the biggest cue sport event in Malaysia.
For this 5 players , Snooker Arena not only sponsoring them on the entry fees , but also sponsor them on free practice session on every weekend (sat and sun) for a month . even though we have not much high hope on them cause they are mainly snooker players and seldom play pool . hopefully 1 of them can make it into the quarter finals . good luck to Snooker Arena players !!!!!

after 3 days of preliminaries round ,Tomorrow will be the last 32 of the 1st national 9 ball pool tournament . all the top 16 seeded players will only start of their 1st match tomorrow at 5pm – 11pm . which i think is not fair to the other players who have to play 3 matches to reach the last 32. especially those player from outstation. (peter lee, tan kok eng from johor) they have to pay extra for their hotel .
i hope there are referee for tomorrow’s match . i wonder why there is no referee for the 1st round match . it’s not fair for the players who start from the preliminary round. and also i think they played the music too loud on tournament time. and the crowds making too much noise too. i think they should make the national 9 ball championship higher class . make the feel like playing the guiness asian tour .
Remember one thing ! in a tournament like this, it’s not the seeded players that is important only . i think the most important people are actually those who come support the tournament by participating ,even though they know they know that they r not good enough to win . here i personally want to thanks to those who really support the Malaysia cue sports .

Michael Tan and Danny Tan is the same person . Michael Tan lost in the 1st round to John Chung 9-7 on the 1st day and how came he is still playing in the last 32 ? how can a person participate twice in a National Championship ? Not Fair to those who lost and have to wait for next year to participate again. what is the organiser of this championship and Malaysian snooker and billiards federation doing ? i hope they will do something about it !

  5. Henrey See Thoe

OMG! I played with a cheater!! How can this possibly happened to a sanction tournament? If this is allowed, I’ll register 10 names for the platinum snooker tournament! Organizers wtf is this?

I got reply from Melvin Chia (MSBF) about this issue … as below
    Dear JH,
    > The tournament rules which has been posted on the result wall since the
    > start of the tournament had clearly stated that “Reserve player will be
    > call in to replace any players who decided to pull out from the competition
    > before the start of the match”.
    > This is the first National 9 Ball Championship and when MSBF sanctioned this event, we are concerned that there may not be enough participants taking part. Therefore, the organizer is permitted to accept as many players as
    > possible to participate (Including Female players), except if that player
    > had already won a match. The tournament condition also doesn’t permit
    > replacement player after play & this same format of play is adopted in
    > many
    > countries in the pre-round of a tournament i.e. Indonesia, Philippines,
    > Taiwan, Singapore & us in Malaysia.
    > Regards,
    > Melvin Chia
