ROEWE SHANGHAI MASTER SNOOKER CHAMPION : RICKY WALDEN ( ENGLAND) FINAL RESULT RICKY WALDEN(ENGLAND)10 vs RONNIE O’SULLIVAN(ENGLAND)8 SHANGHAI MASTER FINAL NEWS Qualifier Ricky Walden beat 2008 world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan to win the Roewe Shanghai Masters 2008 title at the Grand Stage venue. The 25-year-old won the £52,000 champion prize money by winning 5 of the last 7 frames against Ronnie O’Sullivan to overturn a 6-5 deficit and win 10-8 with a 105 break at the last frame of the final. The title gives Walden his 1st ever ranking title of his 8 year career. Walden also prevented Ronnie O’Sullivan to become the first ever snooker professional player in 15 years to claim 3 ranking titles in a row. World number 1 Ronnie O’Sullivan had been 5-4 in front at the interval with breaks of 58, 64, 87 and 78. Ronnie O’Sullivan extended his lead to 7-4 with a break of 108 in the 11th frame. World number 35 Richy Walden fought back to make it 7-6 before Ronnie O’Sullivan make it 8-6. Just when it seemed Ronnie O’Sullivan was in control, Ricky Walden reeled off the next 4 frames to put him on the verge of a top-16 spot in the latest provisional rankings. Ricky Walden’s road to the final included victories over Stephen Hendry, Neil Robertson, Steve Davis and Mark Selby. Ricky Walden becomes the 16th player from outside the world’s top 32 to have won a ranking event. Ronnie O’Sullivan, who collects £25,000 as the runner-up. RONNIE O’SULLIVAN MADE A 145 BREAK IN THE FINAL FRAME OF THE SEMI FINALS AGAINST STEPHEN MAGUIRE. HE WILL BE PLAYING THE FINAL AGAINST RICKY WALDEN (ENGLAND) WHO WON THE 6 REDS SNOOKER INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN BANGKOK.THAILAND ON JULY 2008.
