THE Malaysian Snooker and Billiards Federation (MSBF) will not ask snooker ace Moh Loon Hong or his children, Moh Keen Ho and Mary Moh Chaw Teng, to reconsider their decision if they decide to quit the national team.

MSBF president professor Dato’ W.Y. Chin said the federation does not tolerate those who hold the parent body to ransom.

“They have yet to contact us (MSBF) on the matter but if they want to leave, they can do so,” said Chin yesterday.

“This matter will be brought to the council soon and we will speak to them on this matter. If necessary, we will call for an inquiry.”

On Monday, Moh Loon Hong told Timesport that he was no longer interested in representing the country while Moh Keen Ho and Mary Moh Chaw Teng were also considering quiting.

The reason, he alleged, was because the local body was lackadaisical in managing their careers.

“No one is indispensable. If they do not want to compete for the nation they can leave. We can find Replacements,” Chin added.

“Of course I am upset with the whole episode as the federation has always been supportive in helping the trio to improve in their respective games and in also other areas.”

On the reason why the MSBF did not allow Moh Loon Hong to compete in the Asian Nine-Ball qualifiers and Moh Keen Ho in the SangSom 6 Red Balls International Pro-Am Invitation Snooker Tournament in Bangkok, Chin said the federation wanted the duo to specialise in their own respective events.

Moh Loon Hong is a billiards player while Moh Keen Ho is into SNOOKER. The tournaments have nothing to do with their events.”

However, Chin admitted that the national Cue sports players were not competing in enough tournaments.

“The problem is funding. Although the National Sports Council (NSC) has been very supportive in sending players to international tournaments, it’s still not enough,” said Chin.

“But the players have at least benefited as all of them under the programme are paid allowances, for instance, Moh Keen Ho draws RM2,500 a month.”

Chin added that the federation(MSBF) will be raising funds to organise national-level tournaments for Cue sports.
